Developed over the course of 5-7 days in Godot 4.3 for the Game Creator's Coalition (@ VCU)'s Arcade 2.0 Game Jam!
Play as a small but mighty mushroom and defend your colony from the hordes of pests. No need to manually aim and shoot, the game does this for you (heavily based on the almighty Brotato's shooting mechanic)! The enemy to be shot next is determined by whichever enemy is closest to the player at any given moment- all you need to worry about is staying alive. If you find yourself overwhelmed by enemies, initiate a pushback by pressing "Space"! This will push any enemies near the player back before entering a three second cool-down. The game will inform the player when this cool-down is finished.
Every 10 seconds, a level up will occur, causing both player and enemy stats to be buffed!
Controls:
Movement - WASD

Interact With Buttons - Mouse/Left Click
Enemy Types (each based on biological threats to real mushrooms):
- Larvae: Based on the larvae of Sciaridae flies or dark-winged fungus gnats, a family of flies whose larvae feed on the stalks of healthy mushrooms. In-game, these enemies are quite small and deal minimal damage to the player, but speed up over the course of gameplay and eventually pose potentially devastating consequences if not dealt with properly.
- Blight Bloaters: Primarily inspired by wet bubble disease, an aggressive fungal infection that causes mushrooms to become bloated and misshapen before bursting with spores that spread contamination. In-game, these are mid-tier enemies in terms of damage/health/speed, but also grow to be quite fast towards the end of the gameplay loop.
- Mold Beasts: Mold spores have the potential to contaminate the substrate of a mushroom colony. The substrate is what provides nutrition, moisture, and energy to the mushrooms- they couldn't grow without a healthy one. In game, these are slower, tankier enemies that are generally easier to dodge due to their speed, but allowing too many to accumulate on the battle field could be potentially problematic.
